A favorite of mine is glitter. Either apply it to your eyelids, between lids and brows, or cheekbones. Gold shadow is also cool. Funky colors are ok for competitions, but don't over do it. (If you want an example of overdoing it, look in American Cheerleader for the COA advertisements. They're just plain wrong.) Go with a light layer of foundation, a little bit of blush, and pink lip gloss or lipstick with gloss. A high to medium ponytail with curls is great for games, and for competitions it's nice to make a funky hairdo. It's even better if your whole squad does the same thing. Especially if it has ribbons.
When you yell, annunciate! When you clap, grasp your hands in the center. It is louder that way. Smile, even if it seems stupid. Just don't have a clown smile. Remember to have fun, and concentrate on what you are doing! Good luck!
